How will GDPR affect your business?

I hope you enjoyed a sunny weekend and have your Halloween treats ready for tomorrow? I’m here today to shed some light on GDPR for you and take away any spooky myths! You may have heard there are new regulations coming soon, concerning your personal data and the collection and storage of data?

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulations.

With GDPR coming into law next May 2018, there will be much for us to do in terms of the way we collect and store personal details.

With data storage and data protection being more under the microscope, business processes will need to change again. As consumers, the new GDPR Regulations are a good thing. We won’t be on the receiving end of so much spam and our details will absolutely NOT be able to be sent to third parties, or partners without us ‘opting in’ to agree they can have and process our data.

As business owners, we will need to adjust our opt-ins on our websites, Ts&Cs and the way we store data, which will mean some extra work on our part, yes.

But don’t panic!

From my experience of adhering and implementing new regulations in my career, a methodical and calm approach is best and it’s better to be prepared and get it done ahead of time. Saves getting so frustrated trying to do things last minute!!

So, here’s what you can do today to feel more in control.
