Business growth wisdom and insights from a 7 figure business owner
Recently I had a wonderful few days in the Algarve meeting up with clients from the UK. It was so brilliant to see them again!
Angela from Chemiteq Ltd visited after one of her most successful yet very stressful few years. Being a business owner is hard and challenging, isn’t it?
I met Angela in 2011, wow 12 years ago, when she attended my Sales Training Workshop and had brilliant results. You may remember me sharing how she built her business to 7 figures incorporating my proven and repeatable sales strategy, and she features in my book!
We have kept in touch over the years, and during the lockdown, there were so many new challenges to deal with, so we worked together again to totally redesign her schedule to give her more time for herself before she burnt out. And I’m pleased to say it worked really well and she’s still using her new way of working two years on!
Angela has been able to restructure her business and lifestyle, spend time with her elderly parents, and have time for herself.
And Anglea is now in the process of handing over her business to her son, so is in a very exciting phase on her entrepreneurial journey.
I asked Angela these 3 Questions to share her business wisdom with you today:
⒈ What advice do you wish you had known when you first started out in business?
“How difficult it would be in the early years and how much knowledge you have to gain very quickly. You need to get clear on your goals and learn to say no! And how surrounding yourself with a good positive network is so important for your sanity and business growth.”
⒉ What was the biggest challenge you faced while building your business to seven figures, and how did you overcome it?
“The biggest challenge was “how are we going to meet the customer needs”. We were a small team. We called on several of our contacts to help us which worked very well and helped us to achieve our goals. And we enlisted the services of a legal body to draw up contracts in order to preserve our IP.”
⒊ What advice or lessons have you learned throughout this process that you can share with other business owners who may be considering passing on their business to the next generation?
“Build up a good team with people you can trust. Share your knowledge with the team and invest in their training and well-being, they are your greatest assets. Introduce them to your customers and gradually hand over accounts. And, enjoy some me-time!”
